How do I get that professional tight guitar sound when recording?

I use Logic 9 Express, I have Amplitube Metal, T-racks, and BBE Sonic Sweet pack, but I cant get that tight metal sound when recording. Im looking for the type of sound Joey Sturgis has (Devil Wears Prada, Attack Attack, Confide). I have a decent tone in Amplitube (would like to improve) but it lacks the strength aka my lows are weak and my highs are piercing. I'm new to eq-ing and and I know that's the majority of it. Please help me out. Oh, and I am using a Schecter Damien 6 with active EMG's.
