How to program my dish remote?

oki we have dish network and when we first got it i didn't have my t.v down at the time so they couldn't program my remote at the time and i was wondering how to get my remote programed. it want let me fast forward, rewind, pause, record, watch recorded stuff that i have recorded in other rooms, turn the volume up and down, it want let me cut the t.v off with the remote and that's mostly it
