I want to tan!!!!!! i can never get as dark as i want?

im half italian and the other side Scottish i think.anyways i have like blondish-red hair, i can tan but the most tanned ill get is like an olive shade or like a nice coolr but i never get as tanned as my guido friends and bein italian i wanna be darker so how long do i have to tan for to get dark
