Mercaptoethanol is used against proteins, Why does not affect DNA polymerase?? PCR troubleshooting?

Im working in PCR and Im using a very complex buffer, it has 2-ME and other things like (NO4)2SO4 and they are very important in my PCR but I dont know how do they work???
